Our ALL-TIME Favorite Sugar Cookie Recipe!! These Homemade Sugar Cookies Are So Soft And Have The Best, Creamy Frosting With Hints Of Almond. A sugar cookie is a cookie with the main ingredients being sugar, flour, butter, eggs, vanilla, and either baking powder or baking soda (depending on the type of sugar used). Instructions to make Sugar Cookies:
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F
  2. Melt shortening in microwave. Do not boil.
  3. Mix melted shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat quickly, until creamy.

  8. Frosting time! Melt margarine in microwave. Add salt, vanilla extract, milk, and enough powdered sugar to beat until thick and smooth. You can add additional milk until you get desired consistency (not more than 3 T. total). Now add a tiny bit of water for a good spreading consistency.
  9. Once cookies are done, remove and let cool. Once cooled, it's time to frost those cookies… get creative! ! Use different colors, add sprinkles, have fun!
